This is a sensational 1960's Sarmi vintage silk dress with a silk chiffon sheer caftan style overdress lined with dyed ostrich feathers. The fitted under Dress is fully lined and has the same blue, pink and cream floral print as the sheer overly. The overlay has a slit opening for one arm, and is hemmed with blue and white feathers. It is cut all the way up along the side for the other arm opening.
Ferdinando Sarmi was known for his extravagant evening gowns. He was once the head designer for Elizabeth Arden before he opened his own ready-to-wear salon in New York in 1959. During his career, he dressed celebrities, socialites and first ladies and he won a Coty award in 1960.
